This is Perun, a Slavic mythological figure who has often served as a source of inspiration throughout my career — the lead God of the Slavic Pantheon, God of Thunder, ruthless and just, father of the brave.
He represents the eternal balance between strength and righteousness, the divine force that both protects and destroys.
In this interpretation, I approached Perun through a more expressionistic lens, emphasizing raw movement and emotion rather than strict realism. The anatomy and gesture are intentionally rough and powerful, aiming to capture the feeling of thunder rather than its form.
The sharp facial structure and stern expression carry echoes of Slavic Orthodox iconography, blending mythic grandeur with sacred stillness — a god seen through both the eyes of a sculptor and a believer.
Perun stands as a symbol of justice, storm, and unyielding resolve — a timeless warrior-king whose silence holds both wrath and wisdom. This piece is not just a depiction of a deity, but a tribute to the Slavic spirit — proud, fierce, and enduring like stone struck by lightning.
